I love products that are genuinely high quality goods. This fan comes under that category.

If you are looking to purchase a fan, I can recommend this one.

Fan is a tad bit bigger than I expected, but it works great! If I need another fan, for whatever reason, will be starting with Vornado's

Although it is very expensive, the fan is worth it. Its not very big yet very powerful and can be eaisly moved from room to room.

It is perfect for almost any room, especially a dorm room. It circulates and provides cool air for the whole room. A very great alternative for air conditioners.

The fan isn't really big but it puts out a good breeze when on high and it really isn't loud at all. If you can get over the high price you will enjoy the fan.

Vornada should pay me to do TV commercials about their air circulators, I love them so much. Because I hate air conditioning, I have to be really careful to keep the air circulating when the humidity is high. No problem. Turn on the Vornados (I actually have quite a collection), and it's still quiet in the house because the "low" setting is so soft that I sometimes stick my hand in front of the fan to assure myself that it's on. Want to circulate the air in the whole room? Aim it at the ceiling. They're the best. I'd give them 10 stars if the computer would let me.

Excellent build quality. Very solid. Very light. Moves air very efficiently in the summer and winter. One downside: a little expensive compared to the others.

I have the smaller Vornado fan on my mother in the nursing home. It runs 24 hours a day and never gets hot.
I also had it on her while she was in the hospital and everyone that entered the room inquired about the little fan with the big output. It is so quiet but forces out more air than my 18 in stand fans.
I liked the small one so much I decided to get the 610 model. It is great. I sleep under it AND a 18in pole fan (that I will never buy again). I am so hot natured and have to have a fan on me at all times. I don't know what I would do without my Vornado. I highly recommend it to everyone.Yes it is pricey but once you see the air it moves you will understand why it is worth the price. The 610 on high is louder than the smaller version but not by much. This is a sturdy, can run forever fan.

This is a great fan. I got it for my son to take to wrestling camp and even though it was a heat wave, he stayed relatively comfortable in the dorm room. He now uses the fan in the pool house and it does a great job of cooling.

although pricey, this product is well worth the investment. it is a little big for a desk top model for use in a cubicle, as i use it but if you need moving air on you all the time like i do, it is an excellent choice. it is excellent quality and will take some abuse. i've left mine on overnight at the office and the motor has yet to burst into flames. my fan runs all the time when i'm at work as i need moving air to keep me from becoming ill. all in all, excellent buy.

I was very hesitant to shell out sixty bucks for a small table fan, but after going through five traditional fans of varying sizes and prices, and having to return all of them because they were either too loud or too flimsy (or both), I caved in and bought this Vornado.

The amount of air this fan is capable of moving is impressive considering its size. It isn't quite as powerful as the Vornado lookalike (made by Honeywell) that I bought and then returned, but it's definitely a lot quieter. It's also smaller and can be taken apart for cleaning -- something I can't say about the lookalike.

The fact that this fan is made in the USA and has a lifetime warranty are certainly good selling points. Still, I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

I really enjoy this fan a lot more than the other ones I've owned in the past. I just really like the way it pushes the stale air around the room and it's very silent at the same time. On the highest setting, however, it can be kind of loud. But it's good for white noise if it helps you sleep. I'm truly a believer now in these fans. I used to be too cheap to shell out the extra money but it was on sale for $40 so I snatched it. I'll always buy Voronado now!

I've experimented with box fans and oscillating fans, but never found anything that compares to this compact powerhouse. It doesn't produce a blast of air that's irritating. Instead, it quietly moves an ample amount of air in a fashion that doesn't blow you away, or the items on your desk or table. It's well worth the extra money.

I agree with so many others...it's small, quiet, well-designed, sturdily built, and a real powerhouse of a fan. The only thing I don't like about it is that the on/off switch for the three settings goes from Hi-Med-Lo instead of Lo-Med-Hi. I rarely have to put it on anything but low, so I have to turn it through all the settings to get there, then back through all the settings to turn it off. Other than that, I really do love this fan. It's truly quiet and soothing; when I have it on across the room from me (I have a bedroom/office arrangement in an 8x20 space), I don't even hear it over my computer's whir, but it's moving plenty of air.

Of course, a sleep-breeze cycle and a remote would be fine additions, but then we wouldn't be talking about a $49.99 fan!

I was reluctant to pay the price for this fan, but did finally because our central unit in our home is too small and in the very hot summer months in houston, the living room is stuffy and the elec bill high. I opened it last nite and turned it on med and sat back down, immediately I moved back over to turn it to the ceiling because the air was blowing right in my face. That little fan is amazing. I could feel the air from the other side of the room and a rush of air on the back of my arms which faced the far wall. Even my husband was amazed that we didn't have to put it on high to feel a great breeze. Terrific. I will be getting another for the kitchen.

After reading all the positive reviews about the Vornado 610W, I decided to buy this fan when we moved into our little apartment in NY. I was not disappointed, and I can honestly say I got my money's worth. I mainly use it to circulate the air in my children's room when they take a nap in the afternoon. Their room faces the west, and in the summer it can get warm, but with the fan on (even on the lowest setting), it is cool enough and my girls can sleep all right, and I need that so I can get a rest too! I also like the small size of the fan, because there is no way I can have a big bulky fan in our small apartment.

Vornado is an old and well respected name in FAN PRODUCTS. The AIR CIRCULATOR takes the place of your old-style oscillating fan and really steps up to the plate! (I have a Silver Swan for "looks"! My house was built in the 1930's and needless to say, there is NO CENTRAL AIR!) (I have A Wall Furnace and Window A/C.) I have 2 VORNADO Air Cirulators positioned in the FRONT and the REAR of the 1250 sq ft house. When the HEAT or A/C is on, I still use the VORNADO UNITS. I tilt the fan angled towards the ceiling. These things pull in all available air and spin it around so that you are VERY COMFORTABLE. The air IS NOT BLOWING DIRECTLY ON YOU. I find it saves time and money trying to HEAT and COOL the entire old house with the limited other units installed. I VOTE A BIG 5 STARS for this machine!
    Keeping Comfortable in Southern California!

I love this light weight, powerful little fan! The first time I turned it on, I had my face square in front of it and it literally took my breath away! It does a fantastic job of circulating the air and cooling the room(s). I also like the fact that it is light weight enough to easily move and small enough to fit just about anywhere. Very definitely a good buy!

Its pricy yes, but it keeps me cool whenever I need to be cool. And I am not a small guy either. It will keep you cool, its quiet, and doesn't get overheated (if you touch a box fan in the back you will burn your hand...if you don't believe me...try it). I used it in college and now I am using it at home and it provided great circulation in both places. How versatile! Great fan but didn't give it a five because of the price but if you don't mind the price, a must buy!

I am using this fan for about a month. True it is quite, tilt-able and small but it also lacks the ability to create a strong airflow for the high cost. I bought this fan when my 5yr old box fan, cost about $15, stopped running. The box fan created at least 2x the airflow for much less cost. The reviews give an impression that this fan produces a strong airflow - not in my estimation.

I ordered this to cool off after those long days, and I have to admit, it really blows! Turn it around, and it'll suck the heat right out of any space. For the price, you can't beat a product that both sucks and blows with such force.

My three bedroom apartment is long and narrow, with window unit air conditioners at either end. Getting air to the kids' bedroom is tough. My box fan doesn't push enough air down the hallway unless set to its noisy medium or high setting. The Honeywell models (made by Kaz) that are clearly meant to resemble the Vornado are objectionably loud, such that even conversation in the room is difficult. The Vornado pushes plenty of air down the hall, making the kids' room pleasantly cool. It's not silent, but the noise comes from the rush of air through it, not from a noisy motor. It's not intrusive. I balked at the Vornado's cost, in light of units that cost half as much, but there's no comparison. The Vornado is better constructed and works better in every respect. I was skeptical, but the Vornado does appear to be the best option for an "air circulator" right now.

After reading most of the rave reviews here, I think I don't belong to this crowd. My Patton industrial heavy air circulator finally conked out after years of faithful service. I decided to replace it with this, buying online wihout having physically tried the item out. When I saw this unit, I was shocked. I paid just as much had I bought a brand new Patton. Turning it up full blast made more noise than my deceased fan and because of its small size, it does not circulate as well.Am I comparing a lightweight to a heavyweight? Sorry folks...it's just a cute, beautiful, pricey fan.

I bought a Vornado 610W Whole Room Air Circulator a few years ago at a local appliance store when I was in desperate need of a cooling device for my studio apartment in Brooklyn. My air conditioner was old, basically dead, and I did not have the money to replace it. This fan probably saved me a couple of thousand dollars (cost of air conditioner + estimated electric bill - cost of fan = savings).Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this product. I'm a Vornado evangelist basically and it's just a great feeling to be able to buy a quality product. I don't find the fan to be noisy, though I like a little white noise, and this thing is amazingly durable. I kept my old Vornado running 24-hours a day for almost two years and the performance never suffered. At night, I'd put the fan at the foot of my bed and sleep comfortably. During the day, I put it on top of a bookcase and cool the whole room.I recently moved into a 3-room, railroad style apartment with high ceilings and ceiling fans. Inexplicably, I gave my Vornado to a friend because I had the ceiling fans and a new air conditioner. Well, it got hot one day last week and the cross-circulation in my new apartment is terrible. The AC cools two rooms, but not my bedroom (no windows). This is why I'm buying another Vornado today, on Amazon.com, to solve the problem - and I know it will.

Ok, ok, enough of the clever banter. I like this fan a lot--got one here and I couldn't be more pleased. I use this for cooling the bedroom or office upstairs, because the AC in summer just can't compete with the Delmarva sun and lack of trees in our area. It's relatively quiet for the amount of air it moves--"Vornado" is a really good name for the vortex movement and torrent of air moved by the deep chassis design of this fan.I had one of those fans on a stand that move around, but this actually seems to move more air, amazingly enough. I've had no trouble with long hours of use, and the design is simple and unobtrusive. If you are a fresh air fiend like me, you'll be pleased. I was, and am.

This fan is quiet, especially on the lowest setting, and moves a lot of air. I live in an apartment in Texas and it has allowed me to turn off my air conditioning sooner. Also, when we come back from a weekend away, the Vornado gets rid of the stuffy air quickly.

And not just for Summer! Fans are great ways to circulate heat in your home in Winter. Heat tends to pool in certain areas, these are great for putting them near a heat source and sending the heat elsewhere. I notice when I turn off the fan, the house temperatures will drop! Besides, to me, a person who has trouble sleeping, their soothing HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM is perfect white noise. So I use fans all year long. I know many Winter "Closet Fan Owners" who do the same. This one is a super air mover and great for the Winter us. It moves air, without too much noise and it small enough to put there where you need them. In Summer, again, even with air conditioning, I use them to direct the air flow. As with the heat, you get a good air current going and your tempers will go up with heat, go down with air conditioning.I have had this one several years and it is reliable and just want I need for all-season use.A reliable fan at a good price.

I often wondered why these Vornado fans were priced so high compared to similar-looking fans on the market. After my last other-brand fan died after just a year, I finally decided to spend the money and give one of these a try. Despite a lighter wallet, this fan truly does everything claimed to do. I use it to move air from my living room to my balcony, which it does amazingly well. Even from 25 feet away, I can still feel a strong breeze from it, even on low. As promoted, it does produce a very long and narrow beam of air, which makes a huge difference on my balcony. I've tried using large box fans before and a quick side-by-side comparison had this little fan pushing more air on its lowest setting than the box fan ever did on high. Ever since I started using this fan, I've stopped using my ceiling fans and no longer need to use the AC as much. I'm curious to see how it'll work in the wintertime, but I imagine it'll probably move the warm air just as well as it does cool air. The fan itself is amazingly small and well-built, despite being totally encased in plastic. The motor is quite large, especially for a fan of this size, making me think that this is one of the few products made today which was meant to last. There's a lifetime warranty, but with the thoughtful design and large motor, I have a feeling I might make a claim...in 30 or so years. It isn't the quietest fan I've ever heard, but it is relatively quiet. It's quiet enough to listen to the radio with on all but the highest setting. Even then, it's still quieter than the box fans. Overall, if you're looking for a fan, get this one. The price is steep, but it's worth every penny.

Somehow the breeze is actually cool, not warm air circulating. It has a nice sound, not too loud, and truly circulates the air in the room. I bought one four years ago and it's the only brand I'll buy in the future.

Living on the side of a mountain in rural New Hampshire usually means we don't have to resort to cooling the house during the summer, because we have a prevailing breeze on all but the hottest days. Yet we do sometimes have a problem during the evening, when the wind dies down and the air is still. It is then that we resort to using some device for recirculating all that air and keeping the place comfortable. That much and more can be said about this fan. It seems to effortlessly and efficently move air within a single room, as in the bedrooms, or even downstars, which has an open floorplan and a cathedral ceiling. Within minutes of employing the fans, the house is cooling down, and one can watch the dogs relax as the breeze helps them to cool down, too. Since I usually watch the evening news to compare it with the coverage I get from NPR on the long drive home, it helps that the fan is quiet and doesn't create the kind of airplane-level roar associated with most window fans. We actually have several, for I now have a couple at a small cabin we are building, and it works well there, too, although not as often, since it is so far north. But for the relatively modest price of this item, you can effectively cool a very large area in a relatively short period of time. I highly recommend it. Buy one and stay cool! Enjoy!

We were quite astounded when we received the 610W yesterday. Even on low one can feel air movement from across the room. I suppose one can't ultimately tell how great a product is until it has stood the test of time but, at least for now, I think this is a great product. It does, indeed, circulate far more air than any other fan I've used.

I own a model 180 vornado (not made any more, I guess, but it appears to be similar to the current model 550). It is an amazing fan. I've run it continuously through the summer for three or four years and it has never done anything except work reliably. It has a really nice continuously variable speed knob, which means that you can tune the airflow (and the noise level) exactly as you want; this is really nice if you use it while trying to sleep.Unfortunately the model 610W is much more conventional; it features 3 speed settings; while it is physically larger than the model 180, I was surprised to find that in a side-by-side comparison, the 180 seemed to blow about the same amount of air as the 610; this makes the 610 unimpressive because the 180 is a lot smaller in size.So far, the 610W is a three-star product... but Amazon had a good deal for this fan, so I snapped one up.However, this evening, 10 days after purchase, the fan failed;it simply does not spin at all any more; I did the usual troubleshooting--- I assumed that a breaker in my apartment had blown. I was amazed when I finally realized that it was the fan that had failed. The instruction manual gives no hint about what I might do to revive it (for example, there is no mention of a fuse). I went as far as to disassemble the major components (like the speed control, grill, blade, etc.) in order to search for a defect. But, no luck. There are no obviously melted wires, no funnysmells, just nothing. The fan has a lifetime warranty, *but* in order to get warranty service, you have to send Vornado a check for $15 for shipping (as well as paying the cost of shipping it to them). Basically, I will be throwing the nice discount I got on this fan away and will not have use of the fan for the next "3 to 5 weeks"--- through the hottest part of the summer. Why should I have topay for Vornado's mistake? What a pain. Maybe Vornado's high quality has slipped; maybe that's why this fan was so nicely discounted.

...This little fan lives up to it's reputation. My husband is one of those types who has to have a fan circulating air all year long in our stuffy bedroom - (even in the winter & we live in Wisconsin!) & the Vornado 610W does the job beautifully. The lowest setting is quiet and comfortable on all but the hottest of eves, when the medium speed, coupled with our air conditioner, works just fine. The best part is that you don't have to have it blowing right on you to feel the effects -- the air in the whole room circulates very efficiently. Well worth the money & if you are short on space, this unit fits just about anywhere - floor, table, or window ledge.

It is a great fan... I would have given it 5 stars except my fan is not as quiet as [I thought it would be]. The motor was making a strange noise to start. It goes away if I compress the plastic casing. IT is quiet and I believe a VERY good fan. I can't help think however, that I could buy 3+ box fans for the price of this one. I believe I will be happy with the decision to purchase the Vornado. Once the heat of summer comes I will better be able to rate.

As they say, it's an air circulator, not a fan. The extra initial cost will be made up for by the improved climate control in your home. Plus it appears to be a very durable, heavy-duty unit -- in stark contrast to many of the flimsy fans on the market.

We have a 65 year-old home with poor circulation in the 2 upstairs bedrooms; they're always 5 degrees warmer in the summer and 5 degrees colder in the winter than the rest of the house. A heating and cooling company was going to charge almost $1,000 to put booster fans in the ductwork. Out of desperation (and I'm a cheapskate also) I bought 2 of these 610W Vornados, and placed them over the floor ducts, and Viola', it fixed the problem (3 degrees better, anyways). My Mom has had the 500 series fan for about 10 years, but it doesn't circulate nearly as much air, and the bearings don't have a lifetime guarantee like the 610W, and, sure enough, they finally failed this past summer... So the 610W is well worth the extra $15 or $20 bucks to get better airflow and lifetime bearings. Our rooms are 12' x 12', and this fan does a great job; I suspect that, if you have a larger room, the 750 series would do a better job than this one. Another side benefit of the 610W is just enough background hum with the fan running (24/7 in our home)to block out the constant traffic noise from the major highway we live off of: the kids sleep much better now. This is truly a great product!

I bought the Vornado 610W after reading many positive reviews from this website. My apartment has one large air conditioner unit, and it is in the main room. This air circulator was able to pull the cold air from my main room into a small bedroom. In the past, I would sleep on my sofa because it was the only cool place in the summer heat.It also serves as a great air exchange device. I simply place the unit near a window, and it pulls in fresh air from the outside. This significantly reduces the 'stale air' in my apartment. I have noticed that I breathe better, and my allergies have not been bothering me. I can't wait to see how it works with my heating system. I bet it will assist in evenly heating my apartment.

This thing moves a lot of air for its small size. No doubt about that! However, it is not as quiet as I'd hoped. It's really not too bad, but it does make a maddening little flutter in addition to its normal hushed hum that is enough to keep you awake at night. Otherwise pretty impressive.

I have 4 of these fans and will probably end up with one for every room! They are much less expensive to run than central heat/cooling units. By pushing my thermostats up (just 4-5 degrees)and turning on these whole room fans, I've saved over $500.00 on my electric bills this year! They move air around the room efficiently and quietly. I love that they do not oscillate, as they don't need to, since the design is such that they circulate the air-- not just blow air all around! They help maintain an even temperature, no hot or cold spots in the room. I've tried other types of fans and nothing beats the vornado!

Excellent fan. Cools and circulates air in the whole room. I have become a great fan of Vornado and will buy no other brand.

If you sleep with a fan and have used inexpensive fans before, you know how annoying it is when they develop the irregular popping, grinding, or clicking sound in the middle of the night. You don't want to turn it off because you'll be hot, but the sound becomes more and more magnified. Click. Click. Click. Maddening. This fan will not do that ever. It is a workhorse and circulates air unbelievably well. Most importantly, mine (2 years +) has never made a noise other than its pleasant normal regular hum. If you, like me, must sleep with fan noise, there is no other choice. Most ceiling fans can't even do this. The best!

I have had this fan since April, couldn't have lived without it. I have slept with the fan blowing me on low the whole summer, because the Vornado low setting was as strong as my last fan's high setting, that's scary. I like the subtle quiet hum the fan gives off as a noise, not distracting at all, I have the fan 6 feet away from me and I still sleep like a baby. So get this fan--it is the most durable sleekest best "coolest" fan on the market.

This product is, by far, the best fan on the market. I have tried other, less expensive brands, some which even looked similar and proclaimed to be air circulators as well, but none even came close to doing the job this Vornado does. True to its claim, it is not merely a fan, but a true air circulator. It is every bit as effective as a great ceiling fan, only portable to boot. Mine has been running in the hot Texas summer for three years straight without a hitch. It is great in the winter too for circulating heated air. You cannot go wrong with this one!

My girlfriend uses the compact Vornado 610W to cool our loft bed in the winter. This unit clears out hot, stuffy air trapped in the ceiling and circulates fresh, cool air from below. The lowest motor setting is quiet and sufficient to the task. This is a great fan with a lifetime warranty against defects. Sure, it costs a bit more, but it is a good investment, and your purchase will support The Company.
