I bought 4 of these last year. They work great for a fan but they are extremely noisey. Oscillation feature works well unless you bump fan and get it out of factory alignment. One just died.

This is a great fan, especially considering I have two dogs and they can benefit from it too, Unlike most fans that blow high, this one really covers a large area. I also love the timer option. It was a great buy for me and I am very happy with my purchase.
    Thank you,
    Halee H.

I recieved the tower fan and it made a terible clicking sound whenever the fan ran, i called the manufactuar about the problem and two weeks later they dropshipped a new one out, they said that this was a common problem, and to just cut off the plug to the old fan and send just that to them in an enevlope. The fan moves the air but does little to cool, and yes the new fan is click free.

I ordered two of these fans in late May when they were on the Friday sale. Both arrived together and were opened and assembled the same day. The first one is fine, no problems and very effective, but the second one is still sitting in my guest bedroom, unused.

One of the four screws that go through the base and into the pedestal to hold the two sections together is either too small for the holes in the pedestal, or the opening is too large for the screw. I sent an e-mail to Soleus' Customer Service Dept the same evening using the contact info on their website and received a reply the next day asking for more info. The ONLY info my original e-mail hadn't included was my day and evening phone numbers, BTW. So with their e-mailed assurance that I would be contacted within "1 or 2 days" I waited. And waited. And waited.

Finally I sent a follow-up e-mail on June 14 with a copy of the previous mails. As of today the 21st, STILL no answer, either by e-mail or phone. I've also tried calling them several times and just get a busy signal. I sent one more e-mail today, but if they don't or won't honor their warranty the blasted fan is going right back to Amazon.

Added on July 8 - After finally receiving a phone call from Soleus' Customer Service manager on June 22, I now have a replacement part and a functioning fan, so I'm adding an update.

The first fan has been working fine with no problems for several weeks and so far I'm pleased with the fan. The price was right, the second fan is now also working well and if it wasn't for the three-week delay in getting a response from Soleus' customer service I would have given the fans four stars. It shouldn't take three e-mails and a bad review here at Amazon to get a response from a company's CS department.

The Wind feature does seem useless so far but other than that I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

I was apprehensive of buying this product due to the bad reviews I had seen in this page. Since I didn't want to spend more on a better known brand I decided to take my chances and go with this one. It turned out to be an excellent product. It is not noisy as I read a review before this. The tower design circulates air in a less focused way than the the normal round design, which is a benefit for me since the cooling efect is better distributed. We don't have air conditioning in our bedroom but this fan keeps it cool. The oscilating feature works fine as does the remote control. I came back to this page so I could email a friend the link and decided to recomend this product. Great value.

Though we didn't use it for a long time, we didn't have any problem and we don't expect to see any!
    Love this fan!

This fan is loud and noisy even on the lowest speed. The body of the fan sways/tremors when I turn it on oscillation mode. NOT a good product!!

The only speed I can use it on and not drown out the television is on low. Makes a clicking sound even if not oscillating. When I contacted Soleusair, the only advice was make sure it was on level ground (which it was). Don't waste your money!

After 2 years of use it was time to replace my Bionaire fan, even though I still love the fan, "cricket" noise has got to go.

So, I bought the Soleus Air ST-2010R Tower Fan after reading the reviews and it appeared to be even better than the Bionaire BT45RC-UC, which we currently have 4 of in our office. Wow - big mistake! There is no comparison - the Bionaire is a much better product - hence, you get what you pay for!

I received the Soleus yesterday and have already packed it back up to return. I didn't have to wait 2 years for the "cricket" noise to appear, Jiminy came with the fan, along with a few other weird noises, too. Air flow is extremely poor when compared to the Bionaire. With the Soleus on high speed, I could barely feel the breeze 8 feet away. It didn't even move papers around on my desk unlike the Bionaire which I have to keep on low or medium to avoid paper blowouts.

Having said this, I'm going to go order myself another Bionaire!

I bought this fan to replace my broken Bionaire tower fan, which costs a bit more, selling for $50 on Amazon. The two fans are IDENTICAL! The shape, the placement of buttons, even the remote control. The only difference is the color design. The remote control for my old Bionaire actually works perfectly on the Soleus. And I have to say, Bionaire looks nicer than the grey Soleus. But other than that, it's obvious they came from the same manufacturer. The wind is pretty strong, noise is not too bad, remote control is a gem. The "wind" function is annoying, I don't use it. All in all, it's a great fan. It's one of the cheapest tower fans out there, and while it may not be the best looking one out there, it does everything you can expect of a tower fan. Highly recommended!

I ordered 5 of these for our offices at work - everyone LOVES them for the following reasons: 1) remote control - although thought to be a bit excessive at first, the remote has come in handy when other staff enter and office and don't care for the "breeze" or when the telephone conversation requires a bit more effort to hear, one can simple adjust the fan or turn it off instantly, without leaving the telephone call or making the office visitor feel uncomfortable with overt actions; 2) QUIET...all five of our fans are extremely quiet during fixed or oscillating use; 3) small footprint - other than the base (about 10 inches each side), the unit is so small (about door handle height), that it is easily placed without fear of obstruction; 4) the TIMER!!! No need to worry about getting home from the long day at the office and worrying about the "electric item" still running - we've had coffee pots left on overnight that posed major hazards - although the fan isn't a heating instrument and running it overnight wouldn't be cause for concern, the ability to set the timer and know it will turn off is comforting; 5) the price....far, far less than we've paid for the standard "institutional" fans and a far, far better value. The cons, few that there are, are very minor - putting the thing together entailed just a few steps, but required the unit to be turned upside down...I dropped one on it's "head" and cracked the exterior (however, it made no impact on the fuctions!) and the other con....they tend to walk off by themselves...as in, we've already lost two to "mysterious circumstances" (another office?). Side note: so impressed were staff with these that four staff purchased these for their homes. Yes, we're all happy campers :)

This fan is pretty quiet and not easily broken...Its been knocked over by my husband and my dog and still works perfectly. Having a remote is quite the bonus!! This doesn't take up much room and is quieter than any other fan I have (including my ceiling fans). I strongly recommend this product.

This is my second fan, so you know I like the product. However, my fan had two left side bases instead of right and left. I called the company and left two messages. No repsonse. I then sent an e mail. No response. Amazon did replace the entire unit at their cost, and sent a call tag to pick up the original fan. Soleus would get five stars aif they had any customer service. The fan is delightful and priced right.

    few cons:
    - Not very good to move around as the base is very weak
    - Getting a weird noise that gets noisier with speed
    - Can not adjust the height

This thing is pure crap. It broke (just stopped working) just now and I bought it the beginning of last summer. It only had around 100 hours of total usage.

The fan is better than I expected. Not very strong but I assume most of these tower type fans in market are not strong either. It does require some assembly (approximate time to assemble is 15 to 25 minutes). Over all the fan is nice looking and works perfect. For the price and with free shipping it a good value and I would recommend it.

I ordered this for my office at work because the air conditioning just doesn't seem to get there. I was pleasantly surprised to find that attaching the stand to the fan was very easy, and took only about 3 minutes. I set the fan on low and on low speed oscillation, and it made an enormous difference in the climate in my office. The remote works well and makes it easy to regulate the oscillation and output of the fan. This is a particularly nice feature when writing at your desk. I found this out by blowing paper all over the place when i set it on high. The "wind" feature seems to be a bit of a gimmick, as it suddenly blows a gust through the room, and then returns to it's normal setting. I can't think of a practical use for this, but I'm sure someone else can. The only thing I can't comment on is the durability of it, as I just received it a couple of days ago. If it turns out to go on the fritz in a few weeks, I'll edit my review. Otherwise, this is a very nice fan, and a bargain at $37.99 shipped!

As a side note, read the instruction manual all the way through, as there is some great broken English humor in it, including a reference to "greasy dirt" and some comically horrendous grammar...

I busted a little thing off the bottom when I put it togather. However it doesn't seem to have effected it. This fan is not annoying loud. It gives awesome air flow. I put it on top of my dresser and I want another one!

I never thought having a remote control for a fan would be a big deal, but I love this one. I think that having a convenient way to adjust the fan oscillation and speed will keep me from adjusting the thermostat on the Air Conditioner this Summer, and that will add up to real savings. The design is very efficient, giving a powerful and versatile fan the same footprint as a small desk fan. I find the "wind" variable speed setting to be a little annoying, but it's an option that might appeal to some. I'd also like to see a sturdier pedestal, but so far it seems to be standing tall, and functioning perfectly.
