Use on my 3year old room and works great. Low maintenance and nice Nite Glow Lite. I recommend this product for anyone that wants a Humidifier that works great and is low maintenace.
    Two Thumbs Up!

I use this in my 2 year olds room every night year-round. It actually serves 2 purposes for us, humidity for the air and white noise. The sound of the humidifier on low actually helps keep her asleep and drowns out other noises in the house and outside. The people who say that it needs alot of maintenance have not used humidifiers very much. This humidifier, IF USED AND CARED FOR PROPERLY, is pretty low maintenance. I empty the tank every morning and remove the housing unit to let it dry out each day. If that is too much maintenance then I don't know what to say. About once a month I wipe down all the plastic parts and have only had to soak the Permawick filters in water and vinegar once in over a year. I love the nightlight feature also. If you are looking for alot of humidity in the room then you may want to get a vaporizer and not a humidifier.

Bottom Line: Great product, a little noisier than expected but has worked out fine, low maintenance.

I bought this product April 23,2006, and started noticing water spiting out rear grill. The screws inside housing are starting to rust. I think they should of used brass screws. Its a little noisey on high setting, low setting is a bit better. I am sending it back to hunter and they are sending me a different model. Ill give it a second try. I do own a very nice ceiling fan that I have had for over a year and no problems!

The bearing in the fan motor failed, producing a loud siren-like sound. I thought the cops had finally tracked me down! Rats! I'm busted! Fortunately it was only my piece of junk humidifier. I took it back to the store and returned to my life of crime.

ok so i dont recommend this unit either. but it may not be for the same reasons as everyone else. i have owned it for 1 and 1/2 winter seasons now and its dieing on me. i dont know if i can afford to pay over fifty bucks a season. the first season i used it i was more than impressed, no sticky mildewed filter no dangerous chemicals to add to the water (and breath in to the lungs) it was quiet , had a nite light, was soooooo clean and easy to fill with the little handle to carry from the sink. but then it got noisy and i noticed that it doesnt use as much water as before and i cant remove the sponge to clean it. its not leaking and there is still no smell and i really did like it but its not working properly now. (a girl can tell these things you know) i looked at the housing and the screws are rusty, now if you sell a product that uses water like this one you should use non rusting screws, thats a sign of poor quality. the filter bricks are only slightly crusted. that makes me read the reviews again. one person runs it dry to create a vacuum and then complains the motor burns out another tips it to make the noise stop someone else smacks it because it doesnt fit tight or shims it with paper for a tight fit and then blames the unit because it leaks. someone else is mad that it doesnt come clean enough so uses clr on it and then talks of hard water. makes me think that half the trouble with this little guy is the user. i know my water has dissolved copper pipes and destroyed the insides of faucet housings the plumber loves me. i also know that to save on electricity i have let the thing set full but off if the furnace isnt going full blast so maybe the inactivity caused some of my trouble. so i too may be an unfriendly user. but im not letting hunter off the hook either, they have a wonderful design here but have cut corners on quality components that i can see and i suspect many that i cannot see and the need for the company to sell more units may well be why. i need a new unit but sorry hunter i cant be spending fifty plus dollars every year, these should not be disposable appliances and if they are then charge us ten dollars not fifty.

Rating this as a one start is too high! I bought this humidifier a year ago because I was tired of purchasing wicks and it was supposed to be care free right? Wrong! No amount of cleaning could remove the residue from the permanent pad, the machine was loud and made weird noises. When I went to set it up this fall, the motor would not work at all. It was not worth the money spent. So for anyone that is considering this humidifier, buy a different brand. It will make your life much easier.

I bought this 3 days ago and I was barely getting used to struggling with the fan noise. Then the fan stopped working entirely. I returned it to Linens & Things and am buying a Vornado today. Stay away from this poor quality product.

It is defintely a junk. Usually I don't pay attention for the quality to such small electric. I thought it should be no problem with the quality. I changed my mind after I used this one. It lasted less than 2 months, I knew the humidfier was getting worse and worse, but I hope I can use it in this winter, right now is was retired in a trash trunk. I am looking for the other humidifier. if you konw one, please let me know, thanks.

I bought the unit a year ago and the motor stopped working now. Unfortunately it happened right after 1yr warranty for motor expired. Hunter claims to have limited 5 year warranty, but I am not what is covered under that. When it worked, the unit rattled loudly even in lowest setting. Something must have been lose since if I tilt the unit a little, rattling would stop momentarily.

The humifier has vent on the side of motor compartment and it leaked water from time to time. It wasn't a lot, but from time to time I had to clean the minerals deposited in the vent.

I found the night light to be not useful, but it may be otherwise for others.

It is easy to maintain indeed. I didn't have to replace filter every month like the Hamilton Beach TrueAir humidifier that I have. The filter is cleaned by soaking it into vinegar solution, but I found it difficult to get rid of all the minerals.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this to others. It is nice concept, but it is not really well built. For comparison, TrueAir is better built humidifier although the cost of running is higher.

Everything that everyone says is absolutely true. I experienced all of the same problems. I called Hunter and they told me that I could either pay to ship it to them to fix it or I could take the unit back to Wal-Mart. I took it back to Wal-Mart, but they would only exchange it for the exact same thing. The next unit was just as bad, if not worse.

I ended up buying a Reli On humidifier (H-0565-0) at Wal-Mart. It is the best that I've seen. It was about $29. It is virtually silent, no matter what setting it's on. I wipe out the base when I refill the tank every other day because our water is so hard. It's so simple to clean, there's nothing complicated or intricate about this thing. It only takes literally a few seconds, so I don't mind it. My only complaint was that it was causing white dust in the room, but I bought a Demineralization Cartridge at Wal-Mart for about $6, which lasts up to 2 months, and the white dust is all gone. I've had this unit for almost a month and love it!

Just skip this awful Hunter unit!

I've been searching for a decent humidifier that actually works without smelling, breaking, loud noise etc. etc. It's a hard finde! But to see what a total piece of crap this thing is and at $50.?? Wow, over priced rip off. I think it's time to pull it off the market.

so far, the only one I've seen with good reviews is a 129.00 one...I'll spend it.

P.S. Bought a Halls Humidifier at Walgreens, all it did was blow cold air, I put my hand over the fan for 5 minutes and there wasn't a drop of moisture!

    Thanks again!
