Hamilton Beach 05518 - 2.5 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier Dish Washer Safe. EasyClean System: Cleaning your humidifier shouldn't be a chore. Our water tank and tray are designed to be washed in the dishwasher, leaving them thoroughly clean and sanitary. Easy Drop-In Water Filter: Changing a humidifier filter doesn't have to be a messy inconvenience. Thanks to our drop-in filter, you just pull the old filter out and drop the new one in - it's that easy. Durable Construction: This humidifier delivers durability and performance you can count on. From top to bottom, it's built with heavy-duty materials that will last for years. Large EasyFill Tank: Features an extra-large opening for easy filling and a "leg hugging" indentation for easy carrying. Water tank adds the capacity for up to 24-hour operation. Enjoy Quiet Operation : Keep the noise down and increase your humidity at the same time - it's so quiet, you may forget it's on. The low QuietMist setting is perfect for bedrooms. This basic member of the Hamilton Beach Cool Mist family dispenses with frills such as automatic humidity control but retains a sleek, convenient oval design. Because the controls are on one end of the oval rather than the side, the unit can be operated easily even if placed in a narrow space. (It's 10 inches wide and about 17 inches deep.) The single control knob operates a two-speed fan, which means your only options are Quiet Mist and High settings; the latter is pretty noisy, but the former will probably do the trick in most circumstances. The curvy, translucent gray rear tank lifts off easily for refilling, as does the front fan unit for changing or rinsing the drop-in filter. The water tank is dishwasher-safe. --Richard Farr

This is a great humidifier. It works really well. Maintenance is really easy, more easy than I had even previously thought. Cleaning once a week is sufficient. It is very quiet also. I suggest it highly.

This unit does a nice job of throwing a little moisture into the air of a fairly large space (400 sq. ft. or so). The problem I've had is that the filter seems to stop wicking moisture after a fairly short period of time though (a month or so). I've had this in 2 different houses with 2 different water supplies (both town water, not well water) and the problem is evident in both so I doubt it's the quality of the water. With the filter at around $10, and using 4 or 5, it can be an expensive season here in the Northeast (figure around 5 months). Other than that though, it's a nice piece.

This is a GREAT humidifier, too bad not available; I want to buy a second one for another child's room who is on the way. But it is not available.

Those that complain about it have MOLD in their homes. We change the filters periodically and are fine. If it is in a moldy environment, of course there will be more mold. Look behind your walls people, it is your home.

The performance of the humidifier is good. However, it requires regular change of filters and the filters are expensive ($6.99/ piece). They need to be changed atleast once a month. Therefore, the low cost of the humidifier is compensated by a recurring cost of changing filters.

Higly recommend this item. Works well and requires little up-keep.

If you want a humidifier that will continue to suck money out of your pocket - this is the machine for you. In a three month period it has been necessary for me to purchase 8 replacement filters (for 2 humidifiers) due to them drying out. That cost has now exceeded the initial purchase price for the orginal product. I would not recommend this item to anyone!

Filter is made of the paper and you have to change often, otherwise it melts down. It is a $6.99 each. Even if you buy a cheap machine, it would turn into expensive machine. If you don't change the filter, this machine mists stinky water. I use a filtered water however, I can smell it. Also, I noticed that...When there is no water, it doesn't stop automatically. It will work forever when you don't stop. For example, the fan inside rotated more than 24 hours without water. I didn't know that. After that, I often check if there is water inside or not. I still have 3 more filters. After I use them, I will trash it. I will not buy it again.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!The filters gets moldy in a week or less. This caused you to have to replace them often, which ends up being more than the cost of the machine itself after only 6 replacement filters. I do not find that the humidity in the room is any better than if I did not use this unit at all. I even tried running the unit on high, which is very loud, and it does no better at creating comfort.I now use a Walgreen's vaporizer and it has worked wonders! No more dry air, nose or throat in the morning.

I love this humidifyer. I got it because I have asthma. It seems to help my husband who has Sleep Apnia also.

I had to return this product because of four reasons: a) The motor bearing had a problem, causing the fan to make a "ticking" sound whenever it spun; b) The fan was eccentrically mounted on its shaft which made the fan spin off-balance, causing additional noise; c) The water tank nozzle required a very strong person and unusually high amount of force to open it and close it. This tank has a regressive "quarter-turn" design rather than the traditional screw-on cap.d) Turning the fan off tripped my GFI outlet, revealing poor fan motor circuit design. On the lighter side, this unit is an excellent example of great ergonomic design. It has a water containment tray (so you dont need to place one underneath), removable/dishwasher safe water tray, and the fan unit and power cord are modular and completely/easily removable.

No automatic shut-off, and no indicator light to show when the water level is low. And it's difficult to see through the dark, "smoked" reservoir to check the level.

Not only is this humidifier very noisy even while running in the "quiet mist" mode, the performance of the humidifier decreases strongly after little more than a week, then the filters stop working and don't raise any humidity at all.

This humidifier works well and is very quiet for a humidifier. However, here in Texas at least, the filter gets moldy in 3-5 days. So if I kept using it, I'd be spending more than the cost of the humidifer buying filters in less than a month. If there was a filter that could be cleaned and reused, this would be a great humidifier.

Ever since I bought this humidifier, I've been able to sleep at night. I don't know if it's the hum of the humidifier that soothes me, or if it's the fact that my room isn't so dry anymore, or a combination of both, but I do know that now I sleep.

I love the fact that you can put most of this in the dishwasher to clean. Brilliant idea! It is a bit noisy, however, when on high speed. Also, better to get with humidity monitor. Filters do mold pretty quickly.

I purchased this item a month ago, it is extremely noisy. I tried to get a replacement from Hamilton Beach. Although they guaranteed to replace it with a brand-new one, it will cost me a lot to ship the machine back to North Carolina. The "Quiet Mist" option is NOT quiet at all, and the "high" level is totally unacceptable...

Avoid Holmes and Bionaire (same company). In the past I used mostly Bionaire until, I realize I keep replacing them every season. The longest lasting one was 2 seasons. Never will I buy another Bionaire product. and if you write to complain (giving them valuable feedback) they ignore you. hamilton beach seems good so far. The Hepa filters work well too.

I keep this humidifier in the office, and I don't find that it is too noisy at all. It makes about as much noise as a fan, which is to be expected, since it has a fan in it! On low speed, it's hardly noticeable, but on high it does tend to make three times as much noise. Myself and others in the office aren't bothered by the noise it makes on high, but I rarely use it in that mode anyway.

Effective but unacceptably noisy. Would look elsewhere.

My Hamilton Beach 05521 TrueAir Cool Mist Humidifier performed as advertised for four days, then quit working. The fan runs, the filter is in top condition - it simply will not raise the humidity. This unit replaced a Sunbeam ultrasonic humidifier that gave good service for years before quitting, but I wanted to try one that wouldn't have the "white dust" issue.I think that reviewers should be required to state HOW LONG they have used the product they are reviewing. Perhaps there would be fewer rave reviews. This Hamilton Beach humidifier appears to suffer from poor engineering or poor quality control.

It looks nice and is quiet. It is a little costly to replace filters.

The humidifier works well, but a bit noisy, not for small space. In small bedroom can create a headache.

This coolmist humidifier is silent in operation. It has a tank that is easily refilled and large enough for several days depending on use. My husband has medical needs where a coolmist humidifer is a necessity. We have paid hundreds for others but the Hamilton Beach 05518 Cool Mist Humidifer is the best. For those that have never used a cool mist humidifier, you will notice the difference immediately in your breathing and healthwise.

A little louder than a Kenmore product that I bought last year, but is easier to clean and refill. Also filter stays out of tank full of water and that helps keep it longer.

I bought this product used. It does a good job of putting the mist into the room, but it has only on or off with 2 speeds. It would be much better if it had a thermostat that it worked with

This line of humidifiers is unlike others I've seen. They do not emit mist, nor a high level of humidity. They operate by simply allowing the water to evaporate, then blowing it into the air. As a result, the only noise it makes is from a small (but powerfull) fan. I bought it to counter act my dry heater in my New York apartment. I would wake up dry and coughing. When I saw no mist coming from the unit I wondered if it was working at all- but after the first night of use, it proved itself as an indespensible appliance. The humidifier does not over humidify, it is very quiet, and there are no metal / corrosive elements. Filling it is really easy - and cleaning is even easier, unlike other more traditional (and stronger humidity) humidifiers. If you just need to normalize your humidity so the winter months aren't so dry- this is for you. If you want your windows to sweat, and grow banana trees in your bedroom, you won't get enough humidity. Overall, I love the conveniece, humidity level, and the quietness.
